Westinghouse has developed a two-stage methodology for portraying the activation products and waste classification of a nuclear power plant's reactor internals and surrounding activated structures[1]. Due to the analytical methods used, the Westinghouse two-stage approach quickly and efficiently yields very highly-resolved results which allow for particularly powerful visualization, querying, reporting, and component selection. This approach also greatly streamlines efforts to interact with waste disposal and transportation decision-making. It is easy to add new elements to include in waste reporting. And it is straightforward to represent the waste classification systems used by various countries; these can be incorporated into and displayed by the highly-resolved models generated by the two-stage methodology.
