Nasal Delivery of Opioids: A Potential for Breakthrough Pain Relief

Breakthrough pain, (BTP) remains one of the mostchallenging phenomenons in the management of severechronic pain. However, surprisingly to this end, the nasalroute for the delivery of analgesics has not been fullyexploited. Nasal formulations of morphine and fentanyl asChiSys? and pectin nasal delivery systems present a rapidonset with a high potential to relieve breakthrough pain.
