Research on the Characteristics of Time Headway Distribution inExpressway Weaving Section of Type A

Traffic flow shows unique characteristics in expressway weavingrnsections and time headway distribution is usually changed by traffic flowrnin weaving sections. In order to represent the inherent features of timernheadway distribution in expressway weaving sections, we use thernadvanced traffic detection instruments to collect the data of expresswayrnweaving sections of type A in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Basedrnon the data processing and analysis with several commercialized toolsrnsuch as Video Trace, MetroCount and NC-97, and applying probabilityrntheories to analyze those data by different lanes and sections, we foundrnthe practical distribution mostly obeys displaced negative exponentialrndistribution and Cowan M3 distribution, shows dynamic rule of timernheadway distribution in expressway weaving sections, changing alongrnwith the traffic volume of passing certain section. Finally, this rule isrnproven by fitting technique of x~2 and test of goodness.
