The Analysis of Rural Road Safety and Its Strategies

This paper presents the main features of traffic accidents on rural roads byrndetailed statistical analysis of traffic accidents, modes of vehicles, time, driverrnbehaviors and other related factors about traffic accidents occurred on HuantairnCounty rural roads from 2005 to 2007. The root causes of accidents were obtained byrnapplying traffic engineering principles to the current situation of rural roadrnconstruction and transport development. This paper proposed strategies to reducerndeaths and injuries resulting from traffic accidents on rural roads from the aspects ofrntraffic management system, safety education, safe facilities, vehicle management,rnetc., which will be applied to the field of traffic safety management on rural roads.
