Information Needs of Urban Transit Travelers– The Case of Wuhan, China

While the structure and functions of transit information systems have beenrnwidely explored, there exist bottlenecks of information quality. Transit informationrnproviders need to understand the travelers’ needs correctly. To find out the structure ofrntransit information needs, a survey on transit travelers has been conducted in Wuhan,rnChina. It is discovered that the transit travelers in Wuhan rely heavily on conventionalrnmeans in making trip plans, and the potential of internet-based spatial transitrninformation service has not yet been fully explored. The investigation reflects therncurrent situation of intelligent transit passenger service, as well as the potentials ofrndevelopment in the future.
