Shipboard cathodic protection needs, particularly in spaces which are relatively inaccessible andrncontain mixed metals some of which may be susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement, present challengesrnto conventional impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) and high-driving potential zinc orrnaluminum sacrificial anode systems. Laboratory and long-term field tests of low carbon steel anodesrn(LCS) on mixed metal (HY 80/100 steel, UNS N06625, and UNS N06600) panels were conducted onrnsurface area ratio scale models to assess their applicability in a full-scale shipboard cathodic protectionrn(CP) installation.
