Isolating the Electrochemical Behavior of the Austenite and Ferrite Phases in a Duplex Stainless Steel

The laser lithography technique presented in this paper can be used to perform DC and AC electrochemical experiments on surface regions with an exposed area on the order of < 10~(-4) cm~2 - including irregularly-shaped regions such as cross-sectional areas of the dendrite fingers of the austenite phase in the 2205 duplex stainless steel - provided that a potentiostat of sufficient current sensitivity is available to perform the current measurements.
