The Dry Chemical Feed System for the exclusive dispensing of Aseptrol CW biocide has been designed to allow the safe, convenient, automated, and controlled dosage of chlorine dioxide-generating tablets or granules to a cooling water system. The automated feeder is equipped with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to allow the user the flexibility of customizing the dosing regimen to the needs of the particular system. Additionally, numerous safety features have been incorporated into the design of the feeder. This includes safeguards to prevent operator exposure to chlorine dioxide gas or chlorine dioxide solution were a leak to occur. Through the trial cited here and design modifications, an easy-to-use automated feeder has been designed that safely and reliably doses chlorine dioxide from moisture-sensitive tablets. As a result of design modifications and a switch from tablets to a granular product, we have achieved uninterrupted operation of the feeder for over three months in trials.
