Oral Delivery of PYY3-36

The gut hormone peptide YY3-36 (PYY3-36)rnhas emerged recently as a potential antiobesity drug.rnClinical studies have shown that PYY3-36 effectivelyrnsuppresses appetite and food intake in both lean andrnobese subjects when given intravenously. Oralrnadministration, however, would be preferable. In thisrnstudy we used a rodent model to investigate thernfeasibility of oral PYY3-36 administration using therneligen? technology. Our results show that oralrnadministration can achieve target serum PYY3-36rnlevels, comparable to those obtained postprandiallyrnor after intraperitoneal injection. In addition, oralrnPYY3-36 can effectively suppress food intake.
