A LOW-COST AND QUICK-EFFECT WORKSHOP-LEVEL PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

The paper presents a low-cost and quick-effect workshoplevelrnproductivity improvement program, which is calledrnWPI, for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). On thernbasis of the Pareto Principle, the program emphasizes onrnlooking for key productivity problem, analysis overallrnfactors and implement feasible recommendations. The paperrnfirstly reviews the area of productivity improvement andrnintroduces the background of the WPI program for SMEs.rnThe features, process and corresponding methods of WPIrnare provided in the third section of this article. A WPIrnprogram applied in a Chinese small company is described tornillustrate the efficiency of WPI in SMEs. Several problemsrnabout the WPI program are also discussed at the end of thernpaper.
