The amount of municipal waste goes up very quickly as thernurbanization of China. Solid waste collection costsrnconstitute 70% of a city’s solid waste management budget,rnso how to reduce the collection costs is the key of cuttingrndown the costs of municipal solid waste disposal. This paperrnshows a integrated method of designing the collectionrnsystem using GIS(Geography Information System) andrnsimulation technology. A simulation model is built withrnArena? Software in this paper, and 8 scenarios are tested inrnthe simulation. Some conclusion about how to optimize thernsystem cost will be drawn.
