The ancient capital Xi'an.which was called Chang'an in ancient time , has a splendid history of civilization of more than 3. 000 years and already had a complete general strategy of construction from the very beginning of her history.According to historical records 12 dynasties have successively established their capital in Xi'an. Chang'an as the ancient capital of Han and Tone Dynasties occupies an area of 36 square kilometres and 34 square kilometres respectively. its population being 500.000 and 1.000.000 respect ively. At that time it was a world-renownd metropolis and the starting point of the Silk Road. The intact preservation of Han Dynasty Chang'an ranks itself as a world wonder ,Though Chinese capital moved eastward after Tong Dynasty, Chang'an as an ancient capital still possesses a prominent historical position. The numerous historical and cultural heritage strewing the urban area and the neighbouring areas and the spectacular amount of cultural relics already excavated and to be excavated have earned the city the face of a natural historical museum.
