Underwater video networks are now made possible through the combination of video IP cameras, Power-over-Ethernet, fiber optics and 802.11 wireless. Real-time networks employ pan-tilt-zoom video security cameras in specially designed underwater housings that are administered and controlled over the Internet. The real-time network can also facilitate the use of a wide range of sensors including: audio, acoustic, temperature, salinity, wave height and high-definition sonar imaging. Monitoring of low-light situations is made possible with high sensitivity cameras assisted by high-lumen, lower-powered LEDs. Underwater video networks can operate 24/7 providing for the virtual monitoring of underwater structures and conditions.
