SCR Turn-Off Problem Research in Three-Phase Four-Switch PFC

In this paper, a three-phase four-switch power factor correction (PFC) scheme is proposed using two singlephase PFC modules. In this approach, two PFC modules rectify three input currents cooperating with the switching control of SCR. During this control, Some SCR will be turned off in forced case so as to bring the problem that SCR can’t turn off in time. Thereby, it affects the input current THD and converter reliability. This paper will analyze the SCR turn off problem in detail and give some effective solutions. Some experimental results are shown in the paper to verify the solutions are effective.
