The presented standards and the presented tests highlight the strict requirements of oil industry with regard to materials used in the hose construction. It is a big challenge to specialists working in elastomer research and development to develop materials satisfying all the requirements of these According to trends of oil industry, the future elastomer used in this field has to fulfill the following: 1. Resistant to chemical effects of fluid such as oil, water, or different gases (H_2S, CH_4) 2. Ageing resistant 3. Low diffusivity to gases 4. Good bonding to other elastomers, high adhesion strength 5. Abrasion resistant 6. Suitable for extreme temperature range (low temperature -100℃ and high too) In some very specific applications, elastomer could be successful if a special feature of the material leads to product with higher performance.
