2-Shot Injection Moulding High Performance and Conventional Elastomers

The machine and mould technology is available to manufacture elastomer products consisting of 2 or more different material grades. Especially for products where a high performance material is required for certain high properties of the moulding, the combination with a lower cost rubber material is possible thus the material cost per part can be reduced considerably. Although with this technology the investment cost for machine and moulds will be higher, the advantage is a reduced amount of high cost material thus the material cost per part manufactured will be reduced considerably. The combination of materials has to be evaluated, depending on the application, whereas the required development equipment to test the various material possibilities and combinations is available.
