Evaluating residual volatile organic compound emissions emanating from low-density polyethylene can pose significant challenges. These challenges include quantifying emissions from: a) multiple process lines with different operating conditions; b) several different componomers; c) variations of comonomer content in each grade; and d) over 120 grades of LDPE. This study included extensive laboratory analyses and required the development of a relational database to compile analytical results, calculate the mean concentration and standard deviation,a nd generate emissions reports.
