SIMULATOR DATABASE FACILITY (SDBF)

The Simulator DataBase Facility (SDBF) is a nonprofit facility funded by the Air Education Training Command. The mission of the SDBF is to collect, manage, and redistribute simulation databases to United States Department of Defense (US DoD) programs involved in military training functions. Now in the ninth year of operation, the SDBF has distributed over 1.5 million nautical square miles of digital terrain databases and over 3000 three-dimensional models. The SDBF's primary goal is to eliminate redundancy in the development of sensory and visual databases, thus saving the US DoD both time and money. This paper discusses the SDBF, its history, library contents, and future operations.
