Integrating Agency Relational Applications and Image Architecture

The US EPA collects and stores large volumes of paper in conducting its regulatory and enforcement roles in protecting the environment. Record Centers in all the regions and at Headquarters are tasked with storing a wide variety of documents such as permit applications, discharge monitoring reports, records of communication between the Agency and potentially responsible parties, work in progress reports, deliverables, and grant applications to just name a few. The record centers have endeavored to catalog these document collections and have employed a variety of electronic tools to note a document's existence and track its location.
