Mono-dispensed organic particles can be easily prepared by min-emulsion/emulsion polymerization, dispersion polymerization and suspension polymerization etc. And the component, particles size and porosity of these particles can be controlled by selecting proper co-monomer, synthesis method and pore inducer, respectively. Specially, core-shell structure of composite particles can be achieved to fit a certain demand. For these reasons, well-designed organic particles, which size ranged from nano-, sub-micro, micro-, to milli-meter scales, are applied widely in biomass separation, HPLC filler, ionic exchange resin and thermoplastic or thermoset resin toughness. PVDF is stable while it is attacked by most of the corrosive chemicals and organic compounds including acids, alkaline, strong oxidants and halogens. In addition, the hydrophobicity of this polymer provides a potential application in the membrane-based gas absorption and oil/water separation. Preparation and characterization of PVDF flat-sheet ultrafiltration and microfiltration membranes by dry/wet phase inversion processes were studied extensively by Uragami et al. and Bottino et al.
