On the Axioms of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics for Multi-component Diffusion

摘要

In this work the axioms of non-equilibrium thermodynamics for multi-component diffusion are critically reviewed. Moreover, it is shown that the Onsager reciprocal relations for multi-component diffusion are a direct consequence of the other axioms, namely, the uniqueness axiom of the resistance coefficients, the quasi equilibrium axiom and the linearity axiom. It is believed that this work could be used for pedagogical purposes.
