MORPHODYNAMICS OF CLEARWATER PASS,WEST-CENTRAL COAST OF FLORIDA

Clearwater Pass on the low-energy, Gulf Coast of Florida has had a dynamic historyrnthat has included changes in size, tidal delta characteristics and tidal prism. The severe hurricanernof 1921 and possibly the earlier 1848 storm had major impact on the inlet. The site of longshorerntransport convergence, the stability of Clearwater Pass has required construction of jetties onrnboth sides near the end of the 20th century. After stabilization, the inlet appears to function wellrnand the adjacent fillets behind the jetties have apparently equilibrated.
