The evolution rates of sulfur containing gases during temperature-programmed pyrolysis of coalsrnwere measured in an atmospheric pressure, vertical micro-fixed bed reactor. The results indicatedrnthat, compared with the evolution in N2, CO promotes the formation of COS; CO2 prohibits thernevolution of sulfur-containing gases at temperature below 600℃, while at above this temperature,rnCO2 shows similar effect on evolution of sulfur containing gases as CO does; CH4 also prohibits thernevolution of sulfur-containing gases at temperatures below 600℃, but at temperatures above 800℃,rnmore H2S is formed; H2 improves the formation of H2S and prohibits the formation of otherrnsulfur-containing gases.
