Along with the successful development of 135 MW CFB boiler with reheat, about 30 CFBrnboilers has been or are going to be installed in Chinese power industry. More and more operatorsrnwho were familiar with pulverized coal boiler operation are expected to grasp the skill of CFBrnboiler operation, which is different from their former experience. To meet this demand, under thernsupport of Chinese Tenth Five-year Plan, Tsinghua University developed a first-of-the-kindrntraining simulator of a 135 MW CFB power plant with reheating in China. The simulator wasrnsuccessfully installed in Shandong Zibo CFB power plant and was proved to be very helpful torneducate and to improve the operation technique of operators.rnCompared to the training simulator of conventional PC boiler power plant, the majorrnachievement of the new simulator lies in the development of real-time dynamic model of CFBrncombustor. Our former experience in dynamic modeling of CFB combustor, such as dynamic massrnbalance, dynamic carbon balance and dynamic energy balance, were integrated into the new model.rnThe newly developed model is robust in responding the combined changes of differentrnmanipulation parameters, such as primary air, secondary air, coal feed and limestone feed and hasrnthe ability to reflect the whole operation process from cold start to shut down. The distinguishedrnfeatures of the model lie in the ability to tell the difference of bottom temperature and outtakerntemperature of the combustor, the difference of carbon content of flyash and bottom ash, and therndifferent influence of primary air to secondary air ratio.rnAbout 60 operators have been trained on the simulator before they started their realrnoperation on CFB power plant. Their feedback is really exciting. They felt great similarityrnbetween simulator training and real operation. The operation data of 8 months is now underrnanalyzing and will be used to validate the accuracy of the model.
