Dr. A. Wayne Garrison obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1966. He has been employed as a research chemist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its predecessor organizations for almost 50 years. The objectives of Dr. Garrison's early research were to develop analytical methods, based primarily on GC-MS, for measuring and identifying organic pollutants in drinking water and industrial and municipal effluents.
