Threaded columns which have a large nominal diameter are frequently used in large sized machine. It is considered that the screw plug of the cylinder subjected to pressure may be regarded as the combination of the threaded column and nut are subjected to an external load. In this report, using a solid and a hollow screw plugs of the pressure cylinder, the coefficient of load concentration along thread axis which has a great influence upon the shearing stress of the thread ridge are investigated by changing such parameters as the nominal diameter, the thread pitch, the length of the thread engagement and the diameters of the hollow and the cylinder.
