The purpose of this paper is to propose the convenient technical method for analyzing bolted cover plate of cylindrical pressure vessel. In the design of bolted plate, it is very important to investigate the increase of axial tension in bolts supporting the cover plate subjected to the internal pressure in vessel. In this paper, the general procedure for simulating the separation of cover plate and flange as the elastic contact problem by the three-dimensional theory of semi-infinite solid. In the analytical approach for contact problem, the properties of the bolt, the plate and the flange are separately modeled as a rod, a thin plate and an elastic base, and are treated as coupling problem.
