Facing the status that the SO_2 pollution of the traveling grate boilers and the low sulfur removal efficiency, we brought forward mineral material and industrial waste as additives. On the basis of many experiments, a new sorbents—ZDM-type for catalytic clean combustion at high temperature was presented. A series of identified experimentation using two-stage desulfurization process in the industrial chain grate boiler indicated that the ZDM-type additive could preferably meet the demand of environment protection. The desulfurization efficiency of ZDM added in coal was more than 40% and the desulfurization efficiency of two-stage desulfurization process was more than 70% at the boiler operating temperature above 1200℃. ZDM-type additive also catalyzed combustion and decreased the emissions of NO_x.
