EFFECT OF PETROLEUM COKE ADDITION INTO COAL CHARGE ON COKE QUALITIES

The effect of petroleum coke addition into coal charge was investigated in terms of the resultant coke qualities. (1) The petroleum coke addition into coal charge deteriorated the resultant coke qualities such as DI~(150)15 and CSR. The further crushing of the petroleum cokes prior to its addition to coal charge suppressed the drop in DI~(150)15 and CSR. Therefore, the crushing of petroleum cokes is thought to be effective to suppress the drop in coke qualities such as DI~(150)15 and CSR. (2) The sulfur content of petroleum cokes remained mostly in the resultant solid material (coke) when it is carbonized. Therefore, the increase of sulfur content in the metallurgical coke must be taken into consideration when it is used in a blast furnace.
