Hot gas cleaning system by Ceramic Tube Filter (CTF) is installed in PFBC combined cycle to clean fine particle of fly ash in the flue gas prior to enter the gas turbines. Fly ashes collected in the CTF were removed by back pulsing in constant period to maintain the permeability of the CTF. Coal ash property as well as experimental conditions influence the performance of CTF. During trial operation of 71 MW PFBC demonstration plant boilers, Drayton coal fly ash (DTFA) suffered higher-pressure drop in the CTF than that of Blair Athol coal fly ash (BAFA). Such high pressure drop reduce the total efficiency of the plant and might hinder the long term operation of the CTF.
