Chinese ferrosilicon production grew up along with the development of the iron and steel industry in Chian. In 50's the new China started its recovery and development of the iron and steel production. During that period ferrosilicon was supported by some reconstructed small freeoalloy plants and several newly constructured large ferroalloy plants. In 50's to 70's ferrsilicon productionand its development were arranged according to the plans of crude steel production. The typical annual production of steel and freeoalloys, the specific consumption are shown in Table 1.
