IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF JUDGEMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT BY USING AN ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS

The availability of high-level hydraulic and water-environmental knowledge over Internethas led to a demand to make this knowledge available to a wider public, non-expert aswell as expert. To the extent that the members of this public wish to make judgementsupon certain interventions in water resources that influence the quality of their lives, sothey need help in interpreting and applying this knowledge in their judgementalprocesses by a new class of tools, called judgement engines. This paper describes amodification of an established Battelle procedure that may serve to improve theperformance of a judgement engine in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
