摘要

Paul Callaghan is an Imaging Neurophysiologist within the Life Sciences Division of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. Our group utilises in vivo, in vitro and ex vivo methodologies in the investigation of mechanisms of cancer, neurological and psychiatric disease. My role brings together prior expertise in neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology and animal behaviour to investigate disease using state of the art PET/SPECT/CT multimodality small animal imaging systems and in vitro methodologies. My research interests have been concerned with the neurobiology of drug abuse. This has involved investigation of the pathophysiological processes involved in addiction, in addition to long term changes in brain function and/or neurodegeneration resulting from drug use, in particular 'ecstasy' (MDMA) and 'ice' (methamphetamine).
