Ceramic membranes play an important role in gas separation and membrane reactors because of their high thermal, chemical and structure stability. Gas permeation through modified r-Al_2O_3 ceramic membrane is tested in this paper, To various gases, the effects of temperature, pressure and modification of silica are studied, It is found that Knudsen diffusion, surface diffusion and Poiseulle flow are main . transport mechanisms. Ceramic membrane modified by silica will increase the surface diffusion of CO_2.
