Present day design is characterized by a greater degree of institutionalization,rnspecialization and complexity in terms of assembly, operation and maintenance. In most cases,rncommunication through verbal mode leads to fault assembly and misunderstanding. The focus ofrncommunication is a semantically rich visual representation. Our perception of these visual representationsrnin their respective context becomes important to grasp the information in its entirety. The existing singleframedrnimages, as signified in printed-construction drawings or on-screen displays of anatomical models,rnare static and may not convey the information process efficiently in an established sequence. Steppingstonesrnas paradigmatic shifts in the Kuhnian sense are necessary for today’s technology to visualizerncomplex assembly in space.rnThis paper demonstrates the potential of a Visual-Pattern Database (ViPD, pronounced as ‘v-i-p-id’)rnthat captures the assembly processes as stepped-sequential animations that can be displayed on arnheads-up screen for space assembly or high tech assembly, operation and maintenance.
