UHD Beyond the TV – Bringing the Experience from a Russian Stadium to an Auditorium in Rio de Janeiro With UHD and Immersive Audio

The FIFA World Cup is one of the mostanticipated event by the Brazilian people. Reproducing theatmosphere of the stadium is a big challenge forbroadcasters. In 2018, TV Globo had a proof of concept ofhow a new terrestrial standard can enrich its viewers athomeexperiences with higher quality, increased spectrumusage and additional services. The quality aspect wasdemonstrated in a 400-seat auditorium with UHD (4K and8K) projection along with Dolby Atmos of the live matches,while the other aspects were experimented through an ATSC3.0 transmission trial using LDM, multicamerasynchronization and target advertisement.
