摘要

The application of the high voltage direct current transmission has intensified over time due to the advantages brought by this technology in certain situations. In Brazil, this technology already shows vitally importance for the operation of the national interconnected system. One of the main developments in respect to HVDC transmission its located in Brazil and interconnects the wood river catchment basin to the southeast. This arrangement is known as the HVDC complex of the Madeira River. The aim of this article is to present an implementation of this system, developed on MATLAB® platform and analyse its response to situations such as: full load operation, AC side faults of the inverter side network and performance of the system under light load condition with reduction of the reactive compensation to the extreme.
