In the U.S., 600,000 spinal surgeries are performed annually with exposure of 2,250 mrem of radioactivity from monitoring spinal range of motion per patient post-operative rehabilitation. The goniometer is designed to minimize such exposure and improve reliability of patients' spinal motion parameters for the evaluation of surgical efficacy. This non-invasive device utilizes battery powered sensors that will ultimately reduce costs by $5.04 billion per year.
