For a novel disc transverse-flux permanent magnet brushless machine, an equivalent magnetic network is built, where the lower permeability and 3-D isotropy ferromagnetism of the C-Cores made of soft magnetic composite material (SMC) are especially considered and the air-gap and zigzag leakage fluxes are also taken into account. Through solving the equation sets of the whole motor by iteration, the static and transient characteristics such as no-load back PM voltage waveform and load torque one are obtained which coincides excellently with those from 3-D FEM.
