This paper describes experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses of the interior flow and flow force characteristics in hydraulic seat valves.The basic flow force compensation mehtod involved controlling the fluid momentum in the valve orifice was analysed.CFD simulations and experimental tests are reported together with a detailed discussion of simulated flow pattern and pressure distributions on the internal valve geometry.the analysis indicated a difference in the flow forces for seat valves with different shapes.A seat valve with a ball shaped poppet was found to have nearly double the flow force as a seat valve with a conical valve seat.
