Analyses of U. S. Department of Energy spent nuclear fuel (DSNF) demonstrate that these fuels can be represented by a surrogate spent fuel in the Total System Performance Assessment (TSPA) model for the Site Recommendation (SR). In the TSPA-SR model Groups 2 through 11 DSNF are represented by an unclad uranium metal fuel, which is similar to N Reactor spent fuel. The sensitivity analyses of uranium metal dissolution models show that the dose history is independent of model used for the surrogate spent fuel and the parameters that influence dissolution rate within reasonable parameter and model bounds.
