This paper shows how the heterogeneity in the bedrockrnproperties has two fundamentally different implications forrnan analysis ofradionuclide transport in fractured bedrock.rnFirstly, the actual variation of bedrock properties causesrnmigrating nuclides to encounter a certain (known)rndistribution of properties along their transport path. A secondrnand main effect is due to the uncertainty about the statisticalrnrepresentativity of properties along an individual transportrnpath, which is related to the discrete measuring technique.rnBasic semi-variograms for typical rock properties werernobtained through sampling drill-cores at the Asp5 Hard RockrnLaboratory and performing a large number of batch tests inrnsub-samples taken in a certain pattern in the cores.
