A Pitzer database called PT4 was developed from thernEQ3/6 PIT database to predict the effects of evaporation onrnseepage water within the drift at ionic strengths as high asrn10 molal. Simplifying assumptions were used to add silicarnand carbonate species to the database. Although thernapproach lacked the rigor typically required in therndevelopment of a Pitzer database, pH data from threernindependent ground water evaporation experiments werernpredicted within a pH unit while chloride and ionicrnstrength were predicted within an order of magnitude.
