Concrete is the most common material used to construct structures in the water and wastewater industries. Whilst leaks in these structures would be the most likely critical issue to be considered, it is in fact the cause of the leaks that should be the priority. Durability, repair, protection and maintenance is essential for any concrete structure that holds water or is expected to withstand water. The following paper will discuss the concept of rehabilitation techniques in the water industry, in particular with drinking water, ground water protection and wastewater structures, and how they can maintain their watertight qualities over time.
