摘要

The background to development of WMSS (Weldeable Martensitic Stainless Steel), a low cost corrosion resistant alloy with specific application to pipelines in the oil and gas industry is discussed. The material has been subject to failures in service and laboratory testing has identified a high temperature stress cracking (HTSCC) phenomena. Laboratory work has been undertaken to identify the cause and identify corrective action to mitigate the HTSCC. With further work the alloy has the potential to become a valuable addition to the industry.
