In the oil and gas industry, absorption chillers are used as cooling system for increasing the efficiency. Improve efficiency through increased corrosion resistance is important in these kinds of chillers Tubes used in the absorptionchillers are 316L stainless steel and lithium bromide used as adsorbent, areextremely corrosive. In this study, corrosion resistance and pitting corrosionbehavior of 316L stainless steel in lithium bromide solution and in the presenceof sodium molybdate as a corrosion inhibitor at different temperatures werestudied with different electrochemical methods. Results showed that as thetemperature increases the resistance to pitting corrosion of stainless steeldecreased. furthermore, sodium molybdate inhibitor efficiency decreases at hightemperatures. In this study, the optimum temperature for 316L stainless steelcorrosion inhibition by sodium molybdate was detected at 25 degrees.
