Measurement as a Process: General Issues With Examples From the Pharmaceutical Industry

All effective continuous improvement efforts view the "system" as a combination of both the manufacturing or service activity which add value and the measurement process that produces the data used to control or improve the activity. To improve the "value adding" process we must undrstand the measurement process and sometimes make improvements to it before we can move forward on improving the value adding process. This discussion will address issues of how to evaluate and prioritize where to work in the measurement process.
