The phenomenological model, which the PIRest technology is based on, provides different operating modes allowing bidirectional, incremental motion with an adjustable step size, and setting of the PIRest actuator to maximum and minimum remanent strain or to a definite position within the adjustment range. The developed creep compensation method reduces the position drift after a voltage pulse and therefore offers long-term stability over several months.
