In this paper we present an approach for the visual analysis of intelligent mechatronic systems during an experiment. Intelligent mechatronic systems are denoted by the term self-optimizing systems. Such systems often are embedded systems or use software-agents for control, which act autonomously during operation. These operations are invisible for the engineers. According to this, it is difficult to understand why the system acts in a certain way. We use Augmented Reality to visualize the behavior of the system by showing sensor information, the states of the system, or the simulated parts, of a system under development. Using visualization, engineers can analyse the behavior during the experiment. The approach was tested in the project Neue Bahntechnik Paderborn.
