A non-occlusive pressure regulated pump that is capable ofindependently regulating maximum discharge and suctionpressures is presented. The pump is a peristaltic pump with aconduit of unique design in which the maximum generatedoutlet (discharge) pressure can be controlled by adjusting thetension (stretching) of the pump conduit around the rollersmounted on a rotor. At higher tensions, the chamber becomesincreasingly occluded at the roller locations, which results inhigher attainable discharge pressures. Therefore, the pumpcannot pressurize to a magnitude higher than that controlled bythe tension thus obviating the need of relief valves or electroniccontrols, as with other positive displacement pumps (PDP). Themaximum suction pressure is controllable by adjusting thepressure in an enclosure surrounding the pump conduit. Thepump behaves as a prototypical PDP until the dischargepressure exceeds that withheld by the tension, thereuponbehaving similar to a centrifugal pump.
